“Cuando fueron a buscarme a Argentina no me lo creía porque no llevaba muchos años con River en Primera División. Hasta que terminó siendo verdad. Hay una frase muy importante que recuerdo desde que llegué hasta el día de hoy de mi papá, que era de los pocos que estaba convencido de que podía triunfar en este club. Cuando veníamos en avión para acá me dijo: “Si el Madrid te compró es por algo y tienes que sentirte tan importante como los que están, con respeto, pero igual de importante”. Eso me hizo crecer y cuando entré al vestuario y había tantas figuras me sorprendió y dije: “He jugado con estos monstruos hace dos años en la maquinita y ahora los tengo al lado y puedo compartir el césped y hablar con ellos”. A la vez era un orgullo para mí y pensé: “No puedo dejar escapar este equipo, tengo que triunfar como sea y tengo que matarme para lograrlo”.
